Save Us From Terror

question-1433662Unaware! We were unaware of the terror that was about to happen in Paris last night.

Unprepared! We were unprepared for such random, yet coordinated acts of violence.

Unable! We were unable to save the many victims.

Why? Because human beings are not all-knowing; we are not all-wise; we are not all-powerful — and we never will be.

Is there no one who can save us from this onslaught of evil and terror?

Yes, and He was there — guarding the souls who trusted Him from everlasting terrorism — safely escorting them from this life of treachery to an eternity of happiness and peace. His name is Jesus.

Jesus was asked about needless terror and tragedy in Luke 13:1-5. His response was a curious one. He said, “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

In other words, there is no complete fix to this problem in the current world. Chaos and death are permanently entwined into the fiber of this present age. We can avoid disaster for awhile if we are lucky, but it will touch every single one of us in the end. Unless . . .

Unless we embrace the big picture as Jesus offered. Unless we repent (turn away) from our sins and join God in building a life that is free from the threat of eternal terror.

This is Jesus the Savior’s amazing offer:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with Me. He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:20-21

“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am there you may be also.” John 14:3

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16

What an offer!

My thoughts and prayers are with those in Paris who have been personally touched by this terrible event.
