Our Mission: Think Smaller / Give Up —

11949853041153842660mr_lakshman_poonyth_.svg.hi clkerAfter his resurrection, Jesus stayed 40 days before he went back to heaven. During that time, he explained to his disciples what their mission would be after he left. This is how he explained their job — often referred to as the Great Commission:

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 ESV

In list form, this is what Jesus told his disciples to do:

1) Go to all __ __ __ __ __ __ __.
2) Make __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __.
3) __ __ __ __ __ __ __ them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
4) __ __ __ __ __ them all I have commanded you.

The following video put out by the Bible League of Canada explains one effective way of doing the Great Commission. After you listen to it, write down its four parts.

1) Aim __ __ __ __ __.
2) Think __ __ __ __ __ __ __.
3) __ __ __ __ up.
4) Go have a cup of __ __ __ __ __ __.

Explain what each part means. Then think of a way that your class or family could contact and reach out to people in another country as described in the video. Put a plan into action to make it happen — being sure that everyone has a part.

My Prayer

Dearest Jesus, Thank you that you give all of your followers the privilege of working with you to share the good news of salvation. Please guide me as I make a plan to do my part. Thank you that you have promised to be with me as I do this important job. Amen.
