How to Use the Sword of the Spirit Skillfully —
If we really want to defeat our sinful selfish desires (temptation), then we need to grab hold of the most effective weapon the Holy Spirit provides. It is the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

Dearest Holy Spirit, Your sword is so powerful! Thank you for sharing it with me. I know that I cannot expect to be good at using this weapon without practice. Therefore, help me to faithfully memorize your Word, so that I will be able to skillfully use it when I am tempted. Thank you for continuing to encourage and train me in this important life skill. Amen.
